Intel’s New CEO Lip-Bu Tan to Receive $66 Million in Stock Options and Grants

Intel Corporation (NASDAQ: INTC) has officially disclosed the compensation package for its newly appointed CEO, Lip-Bu Tan, in a recent SEC filing on March 14. The filing outlines a lucrative financial package, underscoring Intel’s confidence in Tan’s leadership as he takes the helm following the departure of former CEO Pat Gelsinger in December 2024.

Breakdown of Lip-Bu Tan’s Compensation Package

Tan’s annual base salary is set at $1 million, with substantial stock options and grants totaling approximately $66 million. His equity package consists of:

  • $14.4 million in long-term stock grants
  • $17 million in performance-based grants vesting over five years
  • $9.6 million in stock options
  • $25 million in a new hire grant

Additionally, he is eligible for a $2 million annual bonus and stands to benefit from accelerated vesting in the event of a change in control at Intel.

CEO Appointment Sparks Investor Optimism

Tan’s appointment follows an impressive 20% rise in Intel’s stock price this year, much of which has been attributed to the market’s positive reception of his leadership. Known for his extensive background in the technology sector, Tan is expected to drive innovation and operational efficiency at Intel.

Commitment to Shareholder Value

A significant component of Tan’s compensation package requires him to personally purchase $25 million in Intel shares, aligning his interests directly with shareholders. Intel emphasized that this requirement reinforces the company’s commitment to long-term value creation and financial stability.

With Tan set to officially assume his role next week, industry analysts and investors will be closely watching Intel’s strategic direction under his leadership.
