U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi has launched a sweeping investigation into a recent surge of vandalism targeting Tesla vehicles, charging stations, and dealerships across the country. Bondi vowed to hold perpetrators accountable and uncover the funding sources behind these attacks, which have escalated in recent weeks.
Tesla Vandalism Sparks Federal Investigation
“They are targeting Tesla dealerships, the stations where you charge a Tesla. They’re vandalizing cars. I have already directed an investigation be opened to see, how is this being funded? Who is behind this, doing this?” Bondi stated on Mornings with Maria Friday.
“We have people we’re locking up on that,” she added, signaling a no-tolerance stance on the destruction of Tesla-related properties.
Political Backlash and Protest Escalation
Tesla, helmed by CEO Elon Musk, has come under attack due to Musk’s association with the Trump administration’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). The federal agency, aimed at reducing government waste and fraud, has drawn sharp criticism from political activists, leading to widespread protests.
Protests against Tesla have intensified, with demonstrators rallying outside dealerships nationwide. In Decatur, Georgia, activists held signs denouncing Musk and DOGE, while similar demonstrations unfolded in Michigan and New York City. However, these protests have escalated into violent and destructive acts, drawing federal attention.
Vandalism Cases Surge Nationwide
Earlier this week, an Oregon Tesla dealership, located just 10 miles south of Portland, was targeted by gunfire, leaving multiple cars damaged and dealership windows shattered. In Massachusetts, Tesla charging stations have been set ablaze, while in Florida, vandals spray-painted Tesla Cybertrucks with expletives aimed at Musk.
The severity of these incidents has raised alarm among law enforcement and Tesla owners alike. In one of the most shocking cases, a suspect was arrested for allegedly throwing a Molotov cocktail through a Tesla dealership.
“We have someone in jail right now from one of the dealerships. They threw a Molotov cocktail through a dealership. They’re looking at up to 20 years in prison,” Bondi revealed.
Cracking Down on Vandalism and Financial Backers
Bondi also pointed fingers at high-profile financiers who she claims may be backing these protests. Musk has openly accused left-wing billionaire George Soros, Democratic mega-donor Reid Hoffman, and others of funding the unrest.
The Attorney General issued a stern warning: “So if you’re going to touch a Tesla, go to a dealership, do anything—you better watch out, because we’re coming after you,” she stated firmly. “And if you’re funding this, we’re coming after you. We’re going to find out who you are.”
Tesla Stock Faces Volatility Amid Attacks
Tesla Inc. (NASDAQ: TSLA) has been facing pressure in the stock market amid these developments. The stock recently dropped 2.99%, closing at $240.68, reflecting investor concerns over rising tensions and potential disruptions to Tesla’s business operations.
