Wayne Rooney Calls for Major Overhaul at Manchester United: Only Fernandes and Mainoo Should Stay

Manchester United legend Wayne Rooney has delivered a scathing assessment of the current squad, asserting that a significant overhaul is necessary to restore the club’s former glory. In a recent interview, Rooney emphasized that only two players—Bruno Fernandes and Kobbie Mainoo—should remain at Old Trafford, suggesting that “10 to 15 players need to leave the club.”

Rooney, the club’s all-time leading scorer, expressed deep concern over United’s current form, noting that the team appears “lost” and “scared” on the pitch. He highlighted a pervasive lack of responsibility among the players, criticizing the ease with which they accept defeats and move on without demonstrating the necessary character and fight.

This sentiment echoes the frustrations of co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe, who recently labeled certain players as “overpaid” and “not good enough,” underscoring the need for a comprehensive rebuild.
